Great hope it all works out I just bought my 02 SS in nov with 137,000 miles on it for about 6k so far i've had to replace a cracked rear exhaust manifold and a clogged CAT. These 3.8 run pretty nice once I pay her off I will be going the Turbo route 4 sure !

Welcome to the forum! Your story is similar to mine, except I was already at the car lot looking at a Camaro when the Monte I own now caught my eye. I haven't had any of the aforementioned problems with mine yet. I do have a cat converter that is clogging up, but that is getting resolved shortly. 200,000 miles seems a bit high to me for an '02. That's around 22,000 miles per year - almost double the average. I paid a little more for mine than the asking price of that '02, but it only had 88,000 on the clock when I bought it. IMO it would be worth the money to run a CarFax report on the VIN and have an independent mechanic (someone not affiliated with the car lot) inspect the vehicle. Best of luck to you!

BTW - I like your user name. I don't think it will be confusing to the other members.

Thanks for the replies, everybody!

I stopped by the dealer this morning, and snapped a few pics with my cell phone. Sorry about the quality. But, here she is!

Beautiful, no? Just sitting there..all dirty, and alone...with no one to love her...What do you guys think?

I'm quite partial to a Black SS

I really think it looks great. If you have the money, and you realize it will probably need some odds and ends to keep running great you should definitely go for it.

Granted it drives well, and passes the other things we mentioned lol

I feel the same way about the black SS. It's got the all black leather interior, as well. Can you say 'Sexay'?

Putting little odds and ends in my car is what I live for! I love finding little minor imperfections and making them perfect again! I'm already thinking about what I could do to fix up the hood. Like I said, the previous owner enjoyed tailgating a bit much. Little chip marks everywhere.

I have a friend who is going to run a carfax and an autocheck report for me as soon as I get out of work today, and can go back to get the VIN. I'll be sure to post my results!

Take a look at the front bumper, try to pull it up and see if it moves. Looks like it is sagging quite a bit, too much gap for the front bumper and the hood. Take a look for comparison

Good looking out, man! I didn't notice that until now. I'll be stopping back by either on my way home today, or before work tomorrow, to get the VIN for the both the Monte, and the Blazer we're looking at. So, I'll check out that bumper while I'm there...

Just in case you're interested...

That's them together this morning.

First off without seeing the pics, it could have not been the 02 signature series bcuz they don't say limited edition on the cluster. But anyway welcome to the forum! good luck with everything!
