Default Owner of a 2001 SS in Texas

Hi all,

I just found this SS 2001 at a local dealership and bought it in cash for 3200 with ttl. It has 124000 miles on it. Seems to be in decent shape except for a few issues which I will ask some advice later. I am going to upload some pics I took of it with this post in the late afternoon sun, I will get some interior videos this morning. Now for the issues: First and foremost is the fan #2 the one on the drivers side seem to kick in and then go off making a trembling noise. The check engine light is on and pulled the codes and 1 is the EGR is bad or one of them, also the next it says is fan #2 circuit problem. The fan seems to come on but go off rather quickly when the car is idle. The AC is super cold. It does not seem to get too hot when driving in dallas traffic a little above half way on the dial, then when driving it cools down to below the half way point. Any ideas what I can do to check to see if it is a relay or the fan assembly needs to be replaced? I am afraid with the Texas heat on the way the engine might get a little hot. other then a few small dents in it which seems like I can use a suckion cup of some kind and pop those right out. The interior is immaculant, never been smoked in, and the leather is in tip top shape. Ok I wont go on too much longer, glad to be in the community and look forward to talking with you all.

I would check the fan resistor. Also first thing on your list to do should be a FULL COOLANT FLUSH. We have problems with our coolant systems and a lot of people neglect them because Dexcool says it can last 100k miles and 5 years so people just completely forget it.

I would do the coolant flush, check your fan resistor/relay, and see how the temperature stays

Hello, I second the resistor check. Sounds like the culprit being only the fan's intermittent opersation and the engine not getting hot. Welcome Texas tornado.....
