I haven't made many posts on this site, but I figure I'll introduce myself and my Monte Carlo. I'm John, from coastal North Carolina, near the Hampton Roads area of VA.

And here's a random picture of my daily driver. A 1993 Honda Prelude with the H22a1 motor, 5 speed.

I have a 1996 Monte Carlo LS that's not your basic LS... It has the bodykits.org front and rear fiberglass body kit pieces, and side skirts from Razzi. The hood is also fiberglass, it's the 3" cowl "Dominator" hood. Also, clear/black headlights, tinted tails, customized back panel, painted interior (which I'll be redoing sooner or later), stock wheels painted black except for the silver lip. Every Chevy emblem on the car is blue. I've got a basic sound system, 12" Kicker, small amp, Kenwood head unit.

I have a 3800 supercharged motor & 4t65e-hd transmission in the car, from a '99 Grand Prix GTP. Motor mods are: Stainless steel Plog from ZZP, ported rear manifold, ported & polished blower, Walbro fuel pump, underdrive alternator pulley, 180 * thermostat, Autolite 104 plugs, cone filter on the throttle body (I'll move the battery and get a semi fenderwell intake sometime), full 3" exhaust (downpipe is 3" also), and I'm currently waiting to get my heads back from being ported, the LIM gasket matched. Once I get the heads back, I'll have a 3 angle valve job done, larger valves, etc.

The paint on the car is rough right now, I need a fresh black paintjob. My future plans for the car are the heads being finished, the paintjob, an intercooler, and either an aftermarket camshaft or 1.84 roller rockers, and a new tune. Well here's a few pics of the car.

Thanks guys. I've done a lot of hard time consuming work with the Monte, I just can't wait to get the heads back and setup so I can drive it again! The last time I actually drove the Monte over a mile was last November. I've been having a problem with detonation ever since I had the motor in the car, like 9* on a 3.4 pulley. It took 110 octane to get me down to blips of KR. So I figured maybe I had a chipped piston, so I took the heads off to check, and all the pistons are fine. So, while the heads were off, I figured I'd get them built up really nice.

Bumpin is actually a member of another Monte forum that I've been a member of for ~4 years. We ended up doing very similar things with our cars at almost the exact same time.

Geez, November?

I know you got the Prelude to keep you going. But I'd be itching to get that monster of a monte on the road. Hell, I'd love to see that thing on a track when it's fully running.

Is that a carbon fibre hood on the Prelude?

Welcome back John

As always its a gorgeous Monte. At first glance it kind of looks like a crappy car, but then you see all the work you've done to it and I applaud that you are doing mechanical work before pretty work. Smoke the doors off a car, because even if they say it's ugly, they wont' be seeing it for long
