Well I bought the 98 Z34, I am pretty excited, looks like brand new! I will be on here alot asking about everything from performance and gas mileage mods to appearance mods!! Thanks guys, seems like a great site!
Hi `Matt from WI, & Welcome to the MCF
You are a lucky man to be able to buy a one owner Z34 from a
relative that you know, & how it was maintained.
We have several great members with the awesome Z34, and I'm
sure once they read your post, that they will assist with
your questions.
We all will be awaiting your pictures : ) It's a MCF
requirement : ) Some of us can't read, and we just look
@ pictures
Look forward to your future posts, & pictures.
Best of Luck with your Z34.

Maybe I'll offer him less then and see what he says? So what are some easy mods for the 3.8? Also, I see it is a "3800 Series II" what is that? Are the 3.8 liters now up to series 3 or 4??

Are there any major problems that I should know about this car?
The series 3, 3800 is a 60 degree block built for Buicks.

You have the series one 90 degree block built for Chevys.

The series 2 is the 6th gen Chevy block still at 90 degrees.

Many hard-core GM people think the 60 degree Buick block was a better idea but not put into Chevys because it was a quieter and smoother running engine.

It is all somewhere in Wikipedia.

(I think this is right?)

Actually the 98-99 z34's have the series II (2) as well.

Congrats on the purchase! I'd love to answer any questions you have to the best of my ability.

Matt, wellcome to the site and always cool to see yet another 5th gen monte join the group. Lots of good info here and the guys and gals have plenty to talk about here. Read some of the blogs that exist here. I learned quite a bit about my 2 Montes here. Enjoy! Must be a gem with only 40 grand on it.
