Hello All,
Yes im new to the forum. I have acquired a 1972 Monte. It was my aunts car. She has had the car for the longest time. It has set in a shed for more than 20 years. In her words “closer to 30” all and all it isn’t in two bad of shape. It needs some major love. I was able to get it running. All the lifters were collapsed so it sounded like a bag of sockets. It is slowly getting better every time i fire it up. It isn’t very highly optioned from what i can see. No a/c now power locks or windows. I’ll try attaching some photos of us pulling her from the shed she slept in. My brothers were visiting her and said if I wanted the car id better go get it. They said trees that are around the shed are dead or dying and one of them is gonna come down and crouch the car. A few questions I have are
1 where are some good sources for parts for the car. Body, interior and mechanical?
2 really looking into LS swap for the old girl. Any body done this? Which motor mounts work well which ones to stay away from?
3 cowl hood? Recommendations good fitment or just stay away all together?
Any recommendations are much appreciated. Thanks
Vince
Looks like a survivor. I'd keep it the way it is, just getting it running.
we got her running. Drove it on the trailer. It is in surprisingly good shape. Pic’s are a little deceiving It has some hidden demons though. Just starting to see rust under the vinyl top at the rear. Also just below the vinyl on the top of the rear quarters. It needs the rear lower portion of the front fenders replaced as well. The interior is in real bad shape. The carpet is rotten and the seats are tore up pretty good. Id like to find buckets and a console for the her.
