Default New w/ an '85 SS

I just picked up an '85 Monte Carlo SS last night. Was browsing around the internet today looking for chevy forums and came across this site.

I'll be posting some pictures and specs a little later after i've gone through the car verifying everything I was told about it and checking it out.

What I can tell you though is that it has 179,000 miles on it and its in fairly good shape. It does need some work, but its a good start.

I havnt seen a lot of posts about older monte carlo's so hopefully w/ some digging information can be found.

Here are some pictures and such:

For starters the rear wheels are gigantic and look horrible on the car, they stick out wayy too far. That will have to be fixed.

Another major thing is the exhaust, whoever did it did a horrible job on it, its just kinda hanging there and it was banging all on the road on the way home. I should be replacing that entirely soon enough. It has some hooker headers and sounds decent, it could just be a lot better.

It also needs body work. The paint is faded and the clearcoat is pretty much non-existant.

The paint is peeling on the nose.

From the side of it, it looks like someone tryed to paint it themselves and really sucked at it or spilt it.

The side marker panel is coming off.

Something is wrong with the drivers side front end

The nose is also a little beat up

The interior is decent. A lot of the interior panels are loose and the console lid is broken off, the dash pad is cracked.

But anyway, its all stuff to do and keep me busy
I'll post more about the engine a

great car for fixing up. I love those 80's chevys-RWD, V-8...they have alot of potential for not much money. Good luck and keep us updated.

Well I had to replace the head gasket, lifters & pushrods.

I have an air gap intake on the way and 750cfm edelbrock performer carb to replace the quadrajunk thats on it.

I pretty much got ripped off on this car though, it was suppose to have so many things that it doesnt, i guess thats what I get for not checking part #'s and carfax before i bought it.
