Default New stereo equiment first time.. HELP!

alright. i got a 12' sub and a amp... stock head unit and speakers... how the ef am i hooking this crap up!?!?!? i love my baby and i dont wanna tear her apart and break something in the process... help? lol. im not replacing the headunit (at this time) so im thinking about splicing into one of the rear speakers and using a HQ to LQ module.. but im still lost on how everything works

Welcome to the forum! not sure how to hook up a sub to the factory system, I'm sure someone here can help you out

Welcome to the MCF. I have not messed with aftermarket components since cassettes and 8 tracks were still available in the local department store. I would go to Best Buy and see if I could pump some info from one of the installers or sales clerks.

Just get an inline RCA converter and tap into the rear speaker supply lines and slave off of that to signal your amp.

I assume you have an amp install kit too, right? You should never have to splice into another speaker to install an amp (unless adding speaker/amp to it). You're gonna have to tear up your car some to run/hide wires. The easiest way from HU to amp is an adapter like pacer said.

Yeah id use tha adapter as stated but deff get a amp install kit for ur power wires & all that & Welcome to the Forum

I second the RCA taps I had a friend who did this and it worked great.

its all good now... i said screw it spent 500 bucks and got a whole new headunit... i have another issue with my monte... its off subject but... it has 76k on her and its my first car... everytime something happens i about cry. lol. i start my car everymorning and let it run for about 15- 20 minutes. its warm when i go out but ASOON as i shift into any gear it tries to die it seems like. this morning i heard a "pop" noise while it was running... i have to put it in park rev at about 2k for 2 minutes then it stops? doesnt do it in the afternoon just the morning after its been sitting all night O.o .. NEVER BUY A USED CAR!

and before anyone says anything i know i spelled intimidator wrong... if i spell it wrong nobody will have that screen name :P lol
