New from NY
Hey all,
I just thought that I would introduce myself a bit as I'm new to Montes and to your forum. I just got a 00 carmine MC yesterday and am looking for some info about these cars in general. I've always owned GM, with the most recent being a 98 grand am that was fairly modded. I'll post pics of her if requested, but she is dead and waiting to be stripped down and parted out. My GA was stolen and totalled out on me a few months ago, but I put it back together and tried to get it cleaned up right just to have valve issues this past week. I decided that it was time to let the car go instead of trying to go through that much to fix it, so I was looking at cars yesterday and found this monte.
I guess thats all for now, I'll browse around the forums and search for a few things that I need to find out as they're simple questions that I'm sure I can find a thread on.

RE: New from NY
Welcome to the Monte Carlo Forum. My previous car was also a Grand Am. A 1999 GT model with the popular leaky lower intake manifold problem. Mine was a money pit, glad I got rid of it. Hope you enjoy your Monte.

Thanks guys, mine was quite the money pit in the end, although none of the body damage was my fault. However, both engines died from the notorious oiling problems of the 2.4. I picked up the monte today, rides really nice. I wish it had a moonroof, but I had to find a car fairly quick so I couldnt afford to be picky on that.

I suppose that will come down to a number of different things. If it's a bolt on system made specifically for your car, then someone will probably know the answer. If it's custom work, itll come down to pipe size, and how the pipe is bent/laid out.

Dont be dissapointed by the 3.5. Its a stout little engine and the VVT 3.5 is a technological wonder. Plus it gets great gas mileage. Get an intake and exhaust, maybe a 180* thermostat. There isnt much more out for the 3.5 so any more performance will have to be a custom job.
