New Monte Owner!
Hey guys, it's John - I am 18 and a proud new owner of a Monte! I live in Jacksonville, NC, right on the coast and near Camp Lejeune. I always loved the way these cars had a distinguishing look to them compared to most new cars where you couldn't tell the difference between any of them. This is my first car so I spent quite a while saving up for my own. For the time being I'm driving my mom's red Kia Soul (which is asking for hazing if you're a guy!). When searching around for a Monte, I found most of them were really beat up or had at last 150k miles on them. These cars are hard to find! I looked at three for four Montes in person, including two '00 pace cars, an '02 SS, and an '01 pace car. All of them had major issues. I finally found a redneck operation in Tabor City, NC. The guy had this 2004 LS with only 113k miles on it - everything worked perfectly and the body was excellent. The guy added the SS spoiler and ground effects (but didn't bother painting them; what's the point?). I picked it up for $4200 which I believe isn't too terribly bad. I plan to paint the ground effects silver and add the pace car checkers at some point to really spice it up because it needs something on it. I'm glad to be here - see you guys around!
