my name is james and i'm new to montes. i've been a mopar man for over 40 years and sold my last one (71 challenger) back in 2008 after it went ablaze and done over $20,000. of damage and no ins. i got the bug to get back into the car hobby last july when i got my %100v.a. dis. approved and went looking. mopars got so far out of a poor mans price range and they wanted thousands for just a dodge dart. cars we stripped for parts. my wife brought up montes because when we got married in 98 see owned a 84 monte ss one owner. it was steel blue and a nice ride but converter problems(trannie) and door latch problems i talked her into trading it for a 88 dodge daytona turbo pacifica. so now i'm gona try montes and give them a go. not so good so far. spent $10,000 buying this monte $1,000. shiping. crank was broke in eng. seller swore nothing was wrong and wouldn't refund any money. spent $5,000. putting in new crate eng. now they tell me rearend won't hold up and $2,400. just parts to upgrade it. don't no if getting back in the car hobby was a good idea.

Hello and Welcome to the forum James!!
Ouch what a hit to take right out of the gate with a new car. Flippin owner knew the damn crank was broke, damn cheese wad anyway! Your right the hot rod scene is a money pit for sure. But you might find yourself really enjoying this at your age now, get your 86 dialed in, squared away and have a nice weekend activity to go and do.
So how did you get 100% disabled? Got your butt kicked across the water or what?? I was in Uncle Sam's jam 09 years, but got out in 1 piece. Go to the VA now for the normal BS stuff now, really good medical plan over all.

was in the army in 75 76, the forgoten vets was what we're called. got leg broken and three disks compressed on field manovers in hamberge ger. was a radar tech. i knoweverything there is to knon about mopars but like i said they just got priced out of my range for a good one and nobody around here will touch one. i'm so well known in my area because i was a mech. for over 25 yrs. that people won't work on my car because i'll be to hard to please. i know what i want and i know how it should be done but the big arthrits has got me were a 2 hr. job takes me a week and twice the money to do. when they say i'm to picky i say what you do everyone else a ****y job or hate to be told the best but easyest way to do it plus i hate a part changer.

I didn't see a pic so I took one from your album........Welcome to the forum.....
and a Mopar for kicks........
I like the Mopars also, I had a 67 cuda fastback 383 which never really got it to where I wanted it to be......... A DUI kinda spoiled that, had to get rid of it to pay for the costs of drinking and driving. Wish I had it today $$$$
