Default New to the Monte Carlo SS Club

A month ago I bought a 2002 Monte Carlo SS. The dealer wasn't sure it was really an SS because the title didn't say it was. After some digging I found it to be a true SS. My only knowledge of the Monte before this was my grandfather had a few in the 70 through early 90s. And, of course, my love of the 87 SS.
I am the 5th owner of this car. I wondered why so many people gave up on this beauty? I am starting to understand. The love/hate relationship has started. But I am faithful and will try to keep her around. Maybe you guys might council me through this pre engagement. Look forward to chatting with everyone. Right now she is sputtering with no power and won't rev much higher than 3000 rpm. Won't shift at 3/4 throttle till letting off accelerator. Is it a blocked converter?

Sputtering and low power? Id think the very first things to do is make sure all your sensors are clean/good.. The shifting thing..? Maybe someone else can help with that one.

unhook the exhaust right after the exhaust manifolds and see if it will build RPM, might be a clogged exhaust/catalytic converter
