Default New member from New Zealand with 1987 LS Monte

Hi all from New Zealand, just purchased my dream car a 1987 Monte Carlo with 305 an carby. I’ve laways loved these G body beauties, especially with a killer SBC . Mine has a 305 which goes well but a 406 SBC will wake her up.
Would really appreciate tapping into all the members wealth of knowledge with my baby.
Cheers David Perfect

Welcome to the Forum! And nice Monte - well, at least what we can see there. It looks real clean for an '87. I'm assuming it has been restored? I'm also curious about what's under the tarp beside it...

Thank you. Yes my Monte has been restored more or less in California then brought to NZ by previous owner in 2017. I have a 406 lined up from a friend which I’ll check out this week , has so I am told as I’ve yet to view engine myself , fully rebuilt with Flat tops , AFR heads, a decent cam, steel crank. Balanced etc

Next to it is a 1972 HQ Holden Ute. ( google it ) I’ve already rebuilt the engine and trans 253 V8 and will shortly start the body, panel and paint. I’ve owned a number of V8 cars here in NZ but just loved the Monte Carlos and mine came up recently so I couldn’t turn it down.
yours looks very impressive.
Cheers David

Hi there David, what an unusual car for you to have way over and down there. Hell a recently restored Monte in your climate, it should last forever. See all your automotive decal wall art, yep you have been in the game for more than a minute. Considering a 406, suuhweet! that will be quite the power change up from mild to wild, hold on going to be a fun ride blasting about down there. You have strict traffic laws or are the police pretty chelaxed if you dont become a nuisance? Anyway Welcome to the Monte Carlo Forum friend!

Hi David, welcome to the MCForum. I once owned a 85 Monte Carlo if I had it today I could be taking it to some car shows.
