Welcome to the site.
Not too many have swapped a 5.3, maybe dredd something did. There is a thread about it somewhere in here.
If not, consider dropping an L67 of 04-05 supercharged Montes or previous Grand Prix, Rivieras, Regal platforms.
Not too much can be dont for the LS motors as far as I know, but I am sure some of our LS members will chime in on it.

Welcome to the forum. Member "JuniorCar" is also from London. And I'm in Windsor.
I think you might have more success, and an easier time going with a 3.8 litre series II engine. Simply because of the availability of them. They were used in a lot of GM cars, and were a hugely popular engine. Used especially in the Pontiac Grand Prix. So there's tons of stuff available for those engines.
I can certainly understand your desire to drop a 5.3 in there. Who wouldn't want the power and sound of a V8 under the hood? But I think it would be easier and cheaper to just find a good used 2006 or 2007 SS and do the exterior visual mods to make it look the way you want.
Unfortunately, you're not going to find much performance mods for the 3.4 litre engine in your car. That engine was used in a few GM cars from roughly 1999 to 2005 (approx.). It was not the most reliable engine mechanically. And there wasn't a whole lot of performance mods made for them. GM experimented with making a turbo for it in the early 2000's. A couple Grand Am's were fitted with a turbo. But were never offered to the public. The idea was scrapped. And the dozon or so turbo's that were made have been bought and sold many times in the Grand Am community.
