Hello to all fellow Monte Carlo owners!


Mine is a 2004 Silver Monte Carlo LS. I inherited it when the original owner died six years ago. It has only 53,000 miles on it.


Problems I have had: Ignition problem - had to have "wiring harness"? and ignition cylinder replaced


Passenger side wiper quit working


Other than these, it has been normal maintenance - brakes, tires, state inspection.


I have liked this style of car even though I did not pick it out myself. It is still a very good-looking car. I will probably drive it until the doors fall off!


I came to this board looking for help in knowing what a rhythmic "clicking" sound coming from my left front wheel may be. I posted a thread on this sound at the "Repairs" area. The sound started out softer but is now pretty loud. It is there whether I apply the brakes or not. If I am going straight down the road and turn the wheel a little it will stop sometimes, but as soon as I start to go straight again it is back.


The noise is directly related to the wheel revolutions, in that as I go slowly, it slows, as go fast it goes fast. Like when you would put a baseball card onto the spokes of your bike when you were a kid. And to me it sound like metal on metal.

The wiring harness is the group of wires connected to the cars engine and stuff so if you need one then I would be sure to get one. Also for the clicking noise I would take it up to an auto shop and get them to check out what the problem is. I'm sure it's a cheap fix and it wouldn't hurt at all to let them look at it so you'll know for sure. Same with the windshield wiper, easy fix. It's probably something on the wheel hitting a part of the fender or something.

I think it was not the "wiring harness" then. It was something to do with the ignition problem. It was a $300 part. That's what the guy told me anyway. In any case, it was last year.
