Hey All,
I just joined the forum and I am looking forward to learning more about this generation on Montes. My second car was a 1987 SS and it was the love of my life for years. BUT, as she got high in miles i decided to take out the 305 and put in a create 350. Before it was complete it was hit and totalled. SO, now as a proud dad of a teenager who is soon to get his license, I bought an 02 Monte Carlo SS. Have always loved the newer design just wasnt hooked on it being a front wheel drive 6cyl. On that note, its the perfect car for my son and we will be working on it to get it in top condition, hopefully.

On that note, any problem areas I should look at first????

Welcome to the MCForum!!
A few years ago I talked with a Mom who gave her son the Intimidator 2004 Monte Carlo he drove it less than 2 weeks and it was totaled. He lost control on a Gravel road and rolled it. Make sure they are aware of all the things that can happen.

Welcome! Sharp car, I have an 02 myself. Only issue I have is with the 'traction control' lights, which I've grown accustomed to. They have a tendency to have intake gasket issues, other than that, just electrical gremlins in a 20 year old car. In SC, you probably don't need to worry about road salt issues, they're killer in the northeast. Enjoy the ride!!
