New to MCF.....Need help with a fuel gauge problem
Hi,
I am new to MCFsite. There is a lot of good info. I am currently having problems with my fuel gauge. It full at fill up and a day later it show a half to empty. Does this soind like a sending unit problem? Thanks for the help in advance.

Hi `Les, & Welcome to the Monte Carlo Family Forum,
I hope the suggested below information helps
you resolve your problem with your fuel gauge.

GM has had some issues with the fuel sending units in the fuel tank causedby sulpher build up. There is an additive called TECHRON you can get at Pep Boys or Autozone or Walmart usually best price. Add the proper amount of Techron to your fuel tank and run a few bottles through it and see if it helps. The Techron is said to remove the sulpher build up.
Then go to Google and do a web search for TOP TIER Gasolines. There are certain fuels out there that already have the Techron in it. There are some fuels listed to use. If you can't get the fuel listed in yoru area, then if the Techron works, then put itin every 5 tankfuls.
To Fix Problem `if Techron doesn't

You need a new fuel level sensor on the fuel sender/pump unit in the gas tank. This is not too bad a job as there is an access hole in the trunk. You have to fold the back seat down and pull back the carpet. You will see a panel with screws that you take off to get at the top of the tank. There isn't much room, just enough to get it out. Disconnect the fuel pipes and electrical and remove snap ring. It will either pop out as it is spring loaded or you might have to wiggle it. It's plastic so don'tbeat on it. Then just replace the fuel sensor and re-install.
Look forward to your future posts/pictures,
and `if you fix the problem. Let us know.
Good luck, Space[/align]
