Just stopping by to introduce myself to the MC community. My name’s Martin and I work as an IT support guy, and I have a passion for cars. One of my dream cars has been the 6th gen Monte Carlo SS, and thanks to the pandemic last year, I managed to get my hands on one. I’m also no stranger to the Buick 3800, in fact, I also have another 3800 powered GM in my small fleet of cars that I rebuilt the top-end on about 10 years ago.
I’ve attached pics of my SS. It’s rough and has lots of miles, but it’s got lots of potential and I’d like to share that with you all.
Thanks in advance! It’s a high mileage Monte, but runs like a top!
Welcome to MCF! I used to have an identical '03SS. A kind old lady was nice enough to run a red light and total it out for me at only 33K miles ............ Now I have what you see here....

Rough looking and getting up there in mileage but I bet it drives perfectly. Welcome.
Hey and a full tank of gas. Whats your other 38 in?
Yeah, the previous owners really didn’t take care of it outside of regular maintenance, and yes, it drives smooth. Will need the rear struts to be replaced soon because it bounces when I go over bumps.
I always like to keep the tank full, and the range is pretty good (~300mi estimated) at 17.7mpg in city driving. My other 3800 powered GM is a ‘93 Olds 88. I’ve always loved how smooth the 3800 is at idle and when driving.
