Default New here, sayin' HI

Hey all,

I'm new here. I'm in med school, stationed in Sarasota, FL, and I was given a 85K mile '00 Monte LS 3.4L from myparents inJanuary '07. When I wash/vacuum her, she still looks showroom. NOTHING but tires/brakes to date. No paint defects, not even hazed headlight covers. (I think I'm a new GM fan). I'm now up to 108K, the dang beast still wants nothing more than oil changes. I'm hoping to upgrade/restore the suspension before my girl and I drive up to Chicagofor Christmas. Anyway, that's how I found this forum. Hope I can find some good info here, actually I already have. Anyone that can recommend a shop down here, I would appreciate it!!

Merry Christmas, etc.

Jason

Hi `Jason, & Welcome to the Monte Carlo Family Forum
You are lucky to have parents that gave you such a awesome
Monte Carlo : )
I am on the east coast of Florida, and don`t no any shops
in your area. I would ask around @your med school etc. for
a good shop.
What type of upgrades to the suspension are you searching for ?
Shocks/Struts ? ?
Please post what type of ride/handling that you are looking for,
and what your $ budget is for the upgrades?
We would love to see pictures of your Monte, and we
look forward 2 your future posts.
Good Luck in Med Zchool
Happy Holidays to you & yours,
`Space & Bum`s

Welcome! Glad you are enjoying your 2000 Monte Carlo, a beautiful car with a body style like no other car in the world. What color is it? We all love pictures here, so throw some on when you get a chance.

Welcome to the MCF family Jason. If you need suspension parts, such as tie rod ends, get MOOG parts. For struts, I recommend KYB's. I put Monroes on my 01 and I HATED the mushy ride it gave me. I also recommend you switch to Mobil ! Extended Performance 5w-30 oil. It's guaranteed against engine failure for 15,000 miles. Go 6,000 miles on a change, along with TIRE ROTATIONS. Tire rotations will save you TONS of money in the long run. You might even consider only changing the oil filter at 5-6,000 miles, along with tire rotations, and change out the oil at 10-12,000 miles, as I do on our 99 Silverado Z71. We have 198,000 miles on her, with NO PROBLEMS EVER with the engine. No burning oil, nothing! (knock on wood, usually my head).
