Default New here!!

Hi my name is Amanda. I am 27 years old, a mother of two boys, and a mechanic's daughter. I have grew up with a passion for cars but, due to my old fashioned father I am just now learning more about mechanic work then checking and changing the oil. I purchased a black 2000 Monte Carlo SS 3.8L back in February. This car originally was to be an upgrade from my tin can 2002 Dodge Neon. Unfortunately it has been rebuilt buy a young boy when he totaled it out and has had some serious issues so it has turned into my project car. I plan on basically restoring the car fully and keeping it maybe in 20 years it will make a nice classic car for one of the boys. Anyways I have always been a Monte fan since the 6th generation first came out. My mother has had two a 00 and a 03. She currently still has the 03 which was supposed to of been mine but due to financial issues they were unable to get another vehicle so this is what lead me to buy "Black Betty". Anyways I bought the car for 2500 and have since sunk about 1200 more into the car. When I got her she had no exhaust from the catalytic converter back. Then needed all new brakes and rotors plus my headlights looked horrendous. Also gave her a complete tune up and replaced the tyrods. In a month my tranny went out and I waited 6 months on my dad to drop the motor and tranny to get the code off the back since the dealers near me can't seem to find anyone with the sense to know the last 8 digits of your Vin can tell you that. Needless to say I still had to double check with a dealer because the boy put a 3.4L RDB tranny in the place of the 3.8L LDB it required. So since I have been driving it I have also had to rewire the stereo change the dimmer switch and decided to customize my interior some. I have found a great parts car which I have changed the spoiler to the more attractive racing spoiler. The interior is now Black with Tan accents but will soon be tan with black I suppose since I'm replacing the seats with tan ones. There is some crazy little tiny electrical glitches from the boys redneck engineering but, for the most part she's coming together.

Here's Black Betty before

now

Still needs a few things like proper emblems on the driver and passenger side and the sunroof fixed mostly cosmetic though at this point. Hoping to get extra help on somethings for it here. Well I've wrote a book so now I'm going to explore the forum.

Welcome to the forum Amanda

Looks like you have come a long way with your car and you should be proud of it

It is never fun having to clean up what others have done before you, I once owned a car that when you hit the brake pedal the interior lights came on, but only on the passenger side of the car lol.

Best of luck in getting the car to what you want it to be and please post pics of your progress along the way.

Be sure to check out the daily blog and say hi

This is the current paint minus the trunk lid since thats a replacement with factory black basically minus the pearl or metal flake top coat.

This photo of your Monte Carlo reminds me of the Kalkaska Area in Michigan... I have a buddy that lives up there!
