Smile New here.

Hey everyone I finally decided to become a member here after occasionally lurking on this site the past year or two. I am a diehard Chevrolet and GM fan and I also love NASCAR. Go Earnhardt! I have a 5th gen white 1998 Monte Carlo Z34. It's my first car and I have had it almost four years. I'm real excited to buy a new Chevy when I graduate college and get a job but for now I enjoy taking care of my Monte. I'll post some pictures of my Monte later when I get a chance. I got it with only 58,500 miles on it and it now has 107k on it. I have kept it in perfect shape. New rotors and pads all around. New plugs, fuel filter, new water pump and hoses etc... Changed all the fluids etc and never gone over 3,000 miles without changing the oil. I have been using Quaker State Defy lately and it has been working pretty good so far. Motor seems to spin a little more free. The only downside is I was one of the unfortunate guys to be blessed with the white paint that peels like crazy. I'm sure most of you have seen a 90's Lumina/Monte with this problem. Been thinking bout maybe finding a newer Monte or Grand Prix with a blown engine or tranny and pulling my motor and tranny out and dropping it in there rather than having to repaint my Monte as its also getting older. If anybody knows where I could get a quality paint job at a fair price let me know (not Maaco).

welcome to the MCF, keep it as is, it's got some age marks on it, big deal... Keep it running good and you'll enjoy it more...The 3.8 is great and diehard also. I'd rather have a few blemishes and run great, rather than look great and run terrible.... All show and no go is weak. If you ever get something newer keep the Z and you'll have a great winter car......

Welcome to the site!

Nice to see another 5th gen here!..... I would like to see some pics also!
Havent seen a white 5th gen Z-34 on here... Let alone on the streets...
I ordered mine new from the factory and it currently has 160+ miles on it...
It too has also had regular maintenance oil changes etc 3 months 3000 miles since I bought it..
It too has a little "rust" beginning on it.
But Thats ok...it gives it character.

Post some pics soon and welcome again to the forum!

Where do you hail from?

Welcome to the Forum. The 3800 is really one of GM's best engines to date.

Go Harvick!
