Default new guy with a question for the ss lovers

im joining this forum because i am in the market to purchase my first montie and i have the ONE in mind and i have looked at it, driven it and love it. the only things i wonder about is what to offer. he wants 4k for a 1987 monte ss that he just panted black but it has runs all over and kinda lemon pealed. never wet sanded or finshed so its a little work. door weather striping, t top striping and trunk striping is gone. the pasanger window motor dosent work, seat dosent recline/ fold. floppy. has 108k on body and a crate 350 that was put in back in 1999 with recepts. brake light is on and pedal is rough! he just changed the booster tho. i love the car and i want it with cash but dont know what to offer. figured you guys would have a imput into this catagory. thanks for any info.

and if i put this in the wrong section im sorry!! just tell me to move it and i will. thanks and i hope i can fufill my dream of owning a g body!

108k on the body? how many on the engine? most of the problems sound like they are due to basic aging. You should pull the carfax to see if it has been in any serious accidents and definatley take it to a mechanic to check out the brake problem before you make any offer. My first car was an 87 ss t-top i paid 4k out here in arizona for it but it didnt have any mechanical issues. But whatever you do dont make an impulse buy. good luck and welcome

If I were you, I'd keep looking. 4th gen SS's in really good condition are only worth in the low teens.

I am selling my 1986 Monte Carlo SS. Crate 350 installed in 1999. This is a quick car and sounds great. Car has 108,000 miles, engine has 30000 miles. The body is in excellent shape, no rot in the regular places. New battery, alternator, master cylinder, and brake boast installed within the month. Headers and custom exhaust one year old. Car was painted last fall and I started wet sanding, but don't have the time to finish it. This car was "loaded" for its time. Has power trunk and T-Tops. Car has had many parts replaced. Hate to sell this car.

This would make a great car for someone who knows how to paint or buff a car, or would make an excellent daily driver.

$4200 or B/O cash talks.

He says cash talks, so offer him 3k and don't go any higher.

Default welcome

Welcome to the forum. The car sounds like someone's old headache so be careful. Are You willing to put the much needed work into it ? Check the frame.....run a magnet along the sides to check for bondo. I agree with the others. No higher than $3500.00.
Good luck.
