Default New guy from ND (STB owner 78)

Soon to be owner of a black/red 78 landau 350/350 with a 650 eddie and a preformer intake. It's true dual through the stock 350 mans, other than that the motor is stock from what I understand. The guy wants 1,850 but its missing a rear seat and the crome trim on the bumpers is painted over and pealing. Other than that the car looks like its in excellent shape. The motor has less than 10k and body 100k. The windows are tinted and it has a custom headliner with raised flames. Its also has chrome steel craiger wheels. I Need to know what is a fair offer, I was thinking 1,600. I also have to drive 400 miles round trip to pick it up. I desperatly want a G-body and I've let too many slip threw my fingers, I don't want to let this one. Thanks for any help

One other thing, If you guys could let me know what to look and whatch out for. Like natorious structural rust areas or things that would be a total deal breaker. I'll try to post some pics

Welcome! Well, I know the 1st gens were notorious for leaking at the rear window and rotting out the trunk. Also the vinyl top could be hiding rust. Sorry I couldn't help more.

Hey... Thanks for the welcoming, I actually posted this twice. Once in the general monte talk and once in here. I was actually surprised I got 5 or 6 guys to help me out in general. I've decided with the help of those guys and a few coworkers that it's a good deal. "Hopefully" (fingers crossed) I drive it home this weekend ... I just hope that it and my POS 89' targus make it lol. I've never trusted my life more than 100 miles in a Ford b4 haha. I sure cant wait to become a first time MC owner actually a first time Chevy owner.

I forgot to mention a "small" detail I'm a MoPar 4 Life born and raised, But I just LOVE all G Bodies. I grandfathered a 86 W150 318 auto thats got 300k on the tranny and still holden strong. The motor isn't stock either with 30k since last rebuild by me and my old man. It's breathing through a K&N on a 570SA holley ontop of a 2" spacer and a eddie performer with a RV cam Double roller T chain, High Vol. oil pump, Accel coil/8.8, MSD 6AL with hooker headers and 2.5 crush bend with 24" glass packs. Every thing else drivetrain and motor stock. So on behalf of the MoPar fam, Quit ******* the Mopars lets just unite and laugh at all the (F)ound (O)n (R)oad (D's)ead. I guess I should be careful how i talk about fords since my life just may be in ones hands over 60mph lol.

Hey man, look at the frame behind the rear wheels. The frame likes to rust out back there. I had to replace mine. My car was original with t-tops and she sat in the woods for many years befor some dude pulled it out and sold it to me. Check out all my pics on cardomain. It should give you lots to think about when you go see the Monte you talk about. I have plenty or rust pics.
