Hi Nick from Memphis. How's it goin tonight? Welcome to the Monte Carlo Forum, the FRIENDLIEST "***** Free Zone" in the Monte Carlo net.
Sorry to hear abut your car. Hope it gets well soon. Lots of posts about what to do to mod your car, but basically, replace the air box with a cold air intake and replace the u-bend pipe with a better downpipe, and go from there.
What color is your Monte?

Hi Nick. Welcome to the MCF. Sorry to hear about your car getting hit. I hope everyone was okay.
Just about everyone on here will tell you the same as Wayne (RocknSS04), start with a complete exhaust system from the down pipe back. And a cold air intake system like K&N's FIPK to replace the stock air box.

Welcome to MCF Nick! Glad to have you on-board!
You'll probably hear this again and again, buuuuuUUUUuuttt.....
If you're going to spend that much on the exhaust first do the Ubend.... (this is the tight U-Shaped bend before the catalytic converter that houses an O2 sensor)
The money for that is better spent than any cat-back, and it's cheaper to boot! While ur there if the stock cat hasn't been replaced already, I would have that done as well. A good hi flow one should make a real good match with your exhaust and u-bend elimination. If there's decent miles on the car, a fresh O2 sensor will be a welcome change as well, will help mileage and the car will run better. The stock cats actually have a reputation of failing prematurely, in fact GM has extended their warranty to 100k simply because it is such a common problem. If you have it replaced by warranty, it's going to be a regular cat, an aftermarket one designed for a higher flow should benefit the car greatly, and will be less likely to fail.
Keep active, and let us know of any plans or if you get some mods done. We all love to see pics of mods (or just the car itself, sooo many members on here are fans of the black montes) and if you can, before/after video of the exhaust sound!
As long as you've joined, check out the "Monte of the Month" board. We'll soon (the 25th) be voting for this month's "contestants", and if you happen to like a member's ride, you can Nominate them (up until the 25th) or second the nomination of another member's ride.
