Default New guy checking in (now with pix!)

Hey guys,
JUst bought an 84 monte carlo, my first small block chevy! 45 years old and just now owning a sb chevy....something fundamentally wrong about that but it`s now been rectified.
I had a 97 grand am quad four for 6 years and loved the thing, dropped oil pressure last weekend and the motor developed a knock in the bottom end so I parked it out back.
A couple of weeks ago a fellow officer (I`m a correctional officer) bought a 1984 monte carlo from an older gentleman who had parked it in his barn, he gave the guys son two basket case motorcycles for the car so he had next to nothing invested in it.
Being car-less I called him to see if he would sell, his wife was wanting a horse and he needed $1000, so the deal was struck and the monte is mine!
Sorry no pix for now cause my camera is down but a general description....
body is in excellent shape, been painted primer gray, very light rust under doors and a bit inside the trunk, no surface rust no dents. Interior is blue cloth and in good shape, no carpets. A/C dont work, cruise control does, all lights and instruments work. Tires hold air but dry rotted. Original steel rims w/beauty rings attached.
Heres the kicker......GM 350 4 bolt crate motor installed 4000 miles ago, papers to prove and all maintenance records in the glove box,Rochester 4 barrel, cast iron manifolds, single exhaust, cat cut out and pipe welded in place. Set of heddman headers in the trunk in new condition.
Car rides like new and is very fast.
I cant wait to get to sanding and painting.
I`ll post pix when able.

Wow, talking about being in the right place at the right time, and knowing the right people. What a deal.
I love the 80's vintage 4th GEN Monte's, SS's and Aerocoupes.
Enjoy her. Post pics of the restoration progress.

Welcome!

Sorry to hear the issues with the ol' Grand Am (honestly, those Quad4's have a BAD rep for braking down, so when someone has been happy with one, they were lucky, I'm still driving a '94 Grand Am with 210,000 miles).

That '84 Monte should be pretty sweet with some TLC!
