RE: New guy
Welcome Jay to the MC Forum. Glad you're not hurt from the wreck. That's why I drive a W-body, cuz I totalled 2 '01 Impalas, and basically walked away from both. Backboarded from the 2nd, but walked out of the hospital the next day. Bruised a rib. This is my 5th W-body now. A '95 MC, red, '(2) '01 Impalas, white and dr red, an '01 MC SS LE, black, and now this '04 Intimidator SS.
Hope you was able to save the rims. Was the engine wrecked? sounds like an engine swap is in order if it's salvagable. Need the engine, tranny, axles, and PCM.

RE: New guy
After seeing the pics in his link on the first page, it's pretty obvious the rims and the engine were not saved. Rims look like they took some damage. Engine is almost in the front seat.
Very lucky to have come out of that one!

RE: New guy
yea all but one rim was busted from the crash, and tranny sheared itself off of the motor along with taking a nice sizeable chunk from the block. Belive me looked good and hard on trying to save the motor for a swap

Hi `Jay,
You found a great looking Monte Carlo. What's your review on it so far.
Do you miss the power of the 3.8L ?
I bet you will get better MPG's with the LS.
It's sad about all the damage to the rims/block/trans on your GTP: (
Thanks for sharing your pic's...I really like that color blue,
but I got cold just looking at the weather in your area : )
Wish you safe/fun & many happy miles.

RE: New guy
as for the ride of the car its a lot better than my gtp but it think alot of it maybe due to not running the low pro tires, as for the power i must say im quite impressed with what it has for being a N/A v6, but i do plan on looking into building a remote turbo setup for this car ( im just addicted to boost). only gotta drive it 15 miles sofar due to the pain i get in my chest from my broken rib actin up, so havent got to check the mpg's but im thinking they will be much better which is nice, when you have a 65mile each way commute.

RE: New guy
If you're intending to boost your 3.4, you may want to pay attention to the lower intake manifold. The GM 3.4 litre engine from 99 up has a history with leaky lower intake manifold gaskets. Comes from the bolts loosening off. Learned this the hard way on my grand am gt. Lots of mentions of this on grand am/alero sites. Just make sure the bolts are torqued down properly from time to time, and you should be golden.
