New to the forums....again!
Well, it's been a long time guys and gals! Back in 2014 I loaned my '06 SS to my daughter. About a year later the tranny blew up, and the car sat until last month. We had moved to Tyler from Austin and it took some time to finally bring her home. Car was in BAD shape from the Texas heat...paint oxidized, interior was a total mess. Ripped door side weather stripping had allowed rain into the car, ruined the carpet, mouldy, etc. The interior was filthy. Dash pad started peeling back badly in the usual places. A/C was not cooling.
Transmission was rebuilt by a local shop, got the A/c serviced - no leaks found. Replaced the carpet and did a major cleaning of the entire interior, luckily the leather is mostly in great shape. Replaced the top of the driver's door weather stripping. Used a Mother's odor eliminator to get rid of the moldy smells. took the dash pad to a local upholstery shop (Mike's trim Shop) and he did an awesome job fixing it - good as new now.
The love affair with this car is renewed....even though I bought a '15 Ram R/T that hauls ***. The SS is so much fun to drive, smooth and powerful. I'm working on the paint using Mother's DA 3 step process and I'll post some pics soon...really looking amazing so far. Only issue driving wise is a P0420 code - replacing the O2 sensors and then most likely the cat.
Glad to be back!
