Hello all, I may be new here but not to Monte Carlo’s. I have owned just a few over the years. All-in-all I have had eight. I owned seven 70-72 at one time. I built and restored five from the seven, two ended as parts for the other five. This was when I could find them priced from $300 to $1000 in the early thru mid 80’s. I sure miss them. I feel the first Gen’s were the best looking as a true muscle machine. When the 2000 body style came out I fell for them again and in Feb of 03 I had to buy an SS for the wife (that’s my story and I’m sticking to it). You see, I am a classic gear head (I think classic is a better word to use for old; I know some of you out there would agree) which is parcel to classic Chevy’s.
I have had many Chevy’s over the years; like 65 Chevelle SS, 66 Chevelle SS, two 67 Chevy II’s, 68 Camaro, two 70 Monte’s, three 71 Monte’s, two 72 Monte’s and a 78 Camaro. Current stable consists of one of the 67 Chevy II, a 67 C10 and the 03 Monte and the wife has a 05 Dodge Magnum RT, and yes it’s Hemi equipped; I know it is a station wagon but don’t tell her that! (She thinks it’s an SUV).
I posted a post here last night and haven’t had much response. I hang out in the 67-72 Chevy Trucks forum for the most part. This is because I am in the middle of a ground up on my C10 at the moment. Just needed some input on some struts and rotors for the Monte it has 125000+ now days.
I have been building, maintaining, and playing with Chevy’s since the mid 60’s (now I did it; showing my age). As long as I can get up off the floor (easier to get down then up nowadays) and turn a wrench I still will keep on being a gear head.

 

Hey there... I hope to be able to buy a project car to restore sometime. But first I have a lot of learning to do, and an income would be nice too!

 

That has been a problem ($) of mine all my life. Finding projects for a reasonable pricenow days is a challange. Don't give up and I still am learning every day. Whats a drag is learning things over again that once knew but forgot.

I like the old-school muscle machines. The ones you could really work on with out having to worry about re-programming your car's computer every time you change something.

A number of our members here have a newer style Monte (2000+) and an older style or two in the garage (pre-1990).
