My name is Lee Cornell. I have been a Monte Carlo fan since I bought my first one in 1979. It was a 1971 factory 402CU, which was a rare engine for those cars.
I would go into car parts stores and ask for a part for my 402 motor and they would look up the part and tell me there was no such thing as a 402 factory motor in a 1971. It was stamped right on the engine info label, I did come to find out in later years that there were indeed a small run of the 402 in the '71 Monte. I kept that car until 2010, always meaning to restore it again. But with kids, college tuitions, etc., I sold the car as I didn't see me having the funds to restore it again any time soon.
I purchased a nice 2004 SS in 2010 and still drive it. My son will be taking the wheel on that car when he gets his license in a few months.
