new from columbus ohio
I just started working on my 9/83 monte carlo ss that i have had for many years now. it all started when i met my wife about 12 years ago, the car was in running condition then. the car was my father in laws brothers car and when he passed away in 96 the car was parked. it spent the next 10 years parked in a field outside my in-laws house. I moved it to my garage in 2006 to avoid it going to the scrap yard because my father in-law was sick of looking at it. about two weeks ago I found a set of wheels on craigslist that are the early aluminium ss wheels. that sparked my intrest again and I finished running the new fuel line and all new brake lines and hoses. it emerged from the garage yesterday 9/4/2012 and drove to the gas station smoking and coughing. it was great! I had to laugh at some guy at the gas station asking me if i wanted to sell it. he was driving a scion with about $5,000 of sterio equipment and about $4,000 worth of 20" wheels, I thoght to myself not no but he!! no, your not turning this car into one of those frankin stein looking things with 25" wheels that you cant get far enough away from the sound of the bass coming out of it.

Welcome to the forum fellow Ohio-ian!
I don't know a lot about that generation Monte (other then I think the SS with T-tops is awesome). But I'm guessing GM put the LG4 305 v8 in that one? I have an '84 Camaro and that came with either the LG4 305 OR the Z28 (I have) with the L69 305 H.O. engine. About 30HP difference if I recall. They are nice, but dollar for dollar a 350 is the engine to have.
Sorry.... This brought some "Camaro memory lane" back
It looks like a great project car and something to be greatly appreciated when it's done!!
