Default Need Advice selling a 1987 SS Aerocoupe

Hi everyone! I was was thrilled to find your website of Monte Carlo experts and enthusisits and REALLY hope you can help me!!!!

I am helping my brother sell his black 1987 SS Aerocoupe but need to understand what a fair price would be and where to list it for sale. Everyone is telling us to just list it on Craig's List or Ebay, but I wanted expert opinions before we do anything. Here's some info on the car:
  • protected inside his garage since 1994
  • 117,269 miles
  • not currently in running condition
  • black exterior/burgundy interior
  • all original equipment
    • modified interior - custom stereo & speakers (still "work in progress)
    • suspension lowered 3" in front and 4" rear
  • 305 HO engine - 4 speed overdirve
  • tinted windows
  • purchased in 1989
Any and all advice is much appreciated. I have pictures but could not figure out how to post them here. Thank you for you help!

areo coupe is a rare one, the 87 is not as rare as the 86 but what i could do is do a search on craigslist all across the country looking for 87 ss aero's seeing what they go for also i'd check ebay looking to see what they go for, check out auto trader and stuff like that and see what you find, i am also going to advise you to go to MonteCarloSS.com, it is a 4th gen(81-88) monte carlo site, they would probably have the best idea what it is worth

Yea--the cool thing is that they're rare and not a whole lot of people know about the aerocoupe as opposed to the reg. I know there was a fairly new member on here with a white one that seemed pretty knowledgeable about his, but i'm of no help. GLWS

I agree with Budsjlm. I also belong to that site, and there is a lot of good info over there.
The value though is very dependent on condition of exterior/interior and location of the car. But mostly on running condition and miles on the drive train.
A 117k+ miles is a lot for the trans and engine, but if taken care of, not a real big issue. But since you state "not currently in running condition", depending on what the conditions are, you can most likely plan on cutting the value in half at least. A full drive train rebuild is rather costly. You always find more as you dig into it.
Then again, if you find the right person that knows what the car is, and they have a desire to bring it back to life, it would be worth more.
So, what I am saying in way to many words, is that for any of us to place an estimated value without knowing anything about the total condition and location of the Aerocoupe is a bit difficult.
I have to agree, do a Craigs List and Google search for the Aerocoupe, find what they are actually selling for, consider the "non running condition" and set your price. Then be ready to negotiate.
