Hi Styles & Welcome to the Monte Carlo Family.

How many miles on your Monte ? How many owner's ?
How long have you owned it ?

How does your exhaust look ? is the exhaust ends oily ? dark carbon ? Light grey ?

I hope that one of our expert MCF Member's can give you some insight into your consumption of oil ?

You don't know how many miles you drive until you have to add another quart ?

Welcome to the forum. Try keeping track of when you need to add oil. You are probably burning oil.

The 5.3 in your car has displacement on demand, which shuts off half the cylinders at cruising speeds, and the whole system is notorious for consuming oil. So i'd say you're fairly normal, alot of members have dod tuned out and the oil consumption stops.

Welcome to the forum. I think Leprechaun93 is right on your oil consumption Depending on how your driving is affects the amount used. I have read that most of the oil consumption happens at the point if "turning the cylinders off/on".

Yes, just as stated above, the LS4 is notorious for burning oil due to the DOD, it is very common and not much to worry about, just check your oil every now and again or you can get DOD tuned out and it will stop burning oil.

I never new this before. That seems like a really dumb thing for gm to do especially with some people that would buy this car and not even be car people and never look at the oil.

2006 SS = LS4. You sure it's an SS?
