Will a 3.8L Replace a 3.4L
Hello My name is Evan 2000 I want to know I'm looking to buy me and my girlfriend A 2001 Chevrolet Monte Carlo LS With a 3.4L It has 208,919 Miles I want to replace it with a 3.8L Will I have to change the transmission To make it work? Also What else do I need to change?

I was Never a BIG Fan of the 90's model Monte Carlo's My mom had a 1977 Monte Carlo Super Sport that had a 350CID 4 Speed Stick Posi Rear End And had Cherry Bomb Glasspacks from Auto Zone It was stolen in 1991 And was recovered totaled R.I.P. Monte Carlo I want a 350 With a Holley 4 Barrel Street Avenger Carburetor But I can't afford the gas So I'm going from V8's to V6's For Fuel Efficiency

The transmissions will mate up, but I bet the gear ratios are different.
You will also need the proper wiring harnesses and PCM from the donor car.
There might be some other stuff as well, hopefully some of the guys that have done this will chime in.

Okay I can do that I'm looking to buy a 2001 Chevy Monte Carlo And it has OVER 200,000 Miles And I'm wanting to beef it up Like everyone else But I'm on a TIGHT Budget So I may do the swap in the Near Future HOPEFULLY I Got my fingers crossed

Thank you Space I HAVEN'T Bought the car yet But HOPEFULLY Soon So I can take my girlfriend Back and Forth to college For her classes I just want to hear everyone's opinions about it I'm STILL In the market I'm switching from Ford To Chevrolet Easier to work on And cheap parts I will do that I found a few I want But I'm NOT 100% Sure on Which one to get My girlfriend wants one With a sunroof And I live 3 miles down a dirt road Off the main strip of Highway And also 15 minutes from town

NICE I Need to check into that one I'm actually 75 Miles South Of ST Louis That is VERY True I make people mad When I put a truck n 1st LOW And 4LO And crawl at NO FASTER Than 3 MPH Up And down hills It is ALWAYS Fun to do I would LOVE To do a V8 Swap But I only know Carburetor Engines NOTHING About Fuel InJections
