Hi `Evan, a swap can be a fun project `if you have all the tools & equipment or have some great mechanical knowledge...If not, it can be a nightmare 4-Sure...

Personally, I really like that one owner Z34 for the price...I would even check it out `if it was in my area 4-Sure...

In my area if you drove down a sandy or dirt road & blocked them, you'd be shot LOL

Keep us updated on your search > Good Luck!

I'd say definitely go SS.

That being said, have you considered the 06-07 SS? If you really want a V8 AND decent fuel economy that might be the way to go. Considering you said you were interested in the 00-05, the 06-07 SS is basically the same (mild refresh and upgrades) but is V8 powered. The 5.3L LS4 V8 does get surprisingly decent fuel mileage.

I can easily get 22-24mpg with mine when doing mostly highway cruising; 18-19mpg is about average for city driving. Highest I've logged has been 24.5mpg. All decent numbers for a V8.

Also, you get that nice V8 tone.

Just something to think about. Welcome, and hope your search goes well!

Hi Even. Welcome to MCF! It took me a year from the time I decided to get a 6th Gen Monte till I actually got one. I new I wanted an N/A SS But finding one inmy price range that looked good or ddidn't need a motor was a challenge. I finally found YelloJAC and have loved her ever since. She's been a pain sometime, But when I drive her, all the pain goes out the window.
My point is, Don't Settle! Take your time and get what you want, Not Something similar and Hope you can make it what you want. Swapping for a bigger motor is not as easy with Fuel Injection as it is with a carburetor. It can be done But it will be Hard work. And then if it doesn't work right, you'll be Very frustrated.
I say, is you want an SS, buy an SS. I'm sure others here will agree that you can find an SS in good commission for the same $$$ as an LS and you don't have to swap motors!
Good Luck in your search!!!!!
