Default A little guidance for the newb...

Hey guys. My name is Ken. I've been workin' on cars since I was about 12 years old. My hobbies are computer repair, and car audio. I've been building up my other car for about four years, and need to have a good car to get me through this winter until my project car is up and running.

...So I bought a '97 Monte Carlo last night and thus far it's a fine little ride. Only issues with it are as follows: Brake rotors are warped, gas gauge starts full, drops to quarter tank, then drops to empty when you start the car. Visually there are a few swirl marks in the trunk lid, and the drivers side has a large jagged dent/scuff going from the center of the door all the way to the rear wheel well. Drives beautifully, and shows no sign of tranny weakness.

So I've noticed that you don't really have a whole lot of 5th gen Montes mentioned in your site. Any ideas where I can find out some more information about things I can do to the car for mods? Also why do I have a parallel port dangling down from my passenger side???

Hey thanks guys, and I look forward to havin' some fun here!

Welcome to the MCF family. There are plenty of 5th gens here. Maybe not as many as the 6th gens, but plenty. And a lot of the issues with the 5th and 6th gens are the same.

Great to see some responses! Do you ever have forum meets or any events for members to attend?

Where are most of the members from? Anyone else here from Maine?

someone said my name!

welcome to the forum, ken. good to see another 5th gen car, feel free to ask any questions you might have, as there are PLENTY of members who really know these cars inside and out. i know i personally have been very happy with my '97 ls, its had some issues but all were simple to fix. and feel free to post some pics, everyone here loves "before" pics almost as much as the "after" pics
