Ya i thought that might be kinda cool seeing how the whole interior is already burgandy/maroon then i could just go with it on the exterior color. I was also thinking maybe just black with the red stock pinstripes and what not to somewhat match the interior. Not sure yet but it'll be awhile down the road! haha.

and thanks! it would look good on anyone driving! well not really but who knows lol. My dad had a 99 cherry red ext cab stepside 4.3l 5spd xtreme right off the showroom floor and in highschool peoples jaws dropped, it was so sexy. so once i started working after i graduated i already knew what new ride i wanted. lol. but now i broke it and have to get the MCSS running asap before the truck dies on me. I have a rod knocking or something and it doesn't sound good at all! if i lower my music while i drive it makes me cringe just hearing the engine noise. lol. I think imma pull the motor and fully rebuild the v6 and rebuild the tranny while i drive the monte. either way though im happy because i love the SS also. AND THEN! after my truck is back up and running, eventually we'll get around to throwing a 383 in the monte carlo! haha, my dad said we should go big block but i think a 383 would be sufficient? lol

Thanks guys! I still have yet to do anything with the monte carlo besides throw in some door locks and a trunk lock. It also has headers but no exhaust so we took the exhaust laying around in my dads garage that was in his camaro when he bought it, and put that onto mine. Can't believe it bolted right up, haha, that works for me though! I've been checking craigslist and emailing a guy back and forth to find some brackets and supports for the front bumper and whatever is needed to bolt in the headlight housings so i can get it one step closer to getting on the road. My Xtreme's knocking or collapsed lifter issue drives me crazy and worries me about it dying on the road somewhere. I gotta get the Monte Carlo up asap before the truck goes down! lol

dude your monte looks cool, i wish i had time to fix up something like your car but no time or space, goodluck with all the work ahead, i just drool when i see older cars on the roads these days. i saw an elcamino today, thought it was a chevelle though? i threw my hand out the window in a hopefully sign of respect to him. i've been passing an older monte ss in the mornings lately and i think i caught his attention in my 06 but i think we have a connection!!! his looked like an 86 or 87 monte ss! later man

Thanks everyone. Ya i really really love the monte carlo ss's. You can thank my dad for that one. He bought me an 88 MCSS in highschool which was really really nice. I wanted a smaller car but he i don't know, assumed i would be just like him and wanted me to have something big. As it turns out I am like him and the monte carlo was definitely a good choice. I love these things even though this one i bought is kinda beat up a little bit, doesn't mean it'll stay that way!! Haha, I plan on throwing a 383 in it since it's a little on the heavy side I'm sure a 383 will definitely help solve that issue. I just paid my truck off finally as of last week so now i can start saving to rebuild the motor on my xtreme. That little 4.3l 3/4 350 i think will get 300 hp or so with what i wanna do to it. Thing is I really don't know how long I got til' it pukes on me. I'm actually still waiting on the title for the monte carlo because it has a salvaged title. The previous owner told me he needed a number off the fender to give to the salvage yard so he can get that all straightened out and hand over the title. I don't know what to do about the headlights right now though I'm kinda stuck on that issue. No word from the guy that has 2 monte's and i was emailing back and forth. I haven't found any monte carlo ss's at the local junkyards even though i've only been to a couple. I should be at one right now but i'm helping trying to get my dads camaro started. (no spark) I think the ignition module is bad. Doing a bunch of tests with the volt meter though and imma call some places for help and advice. I'll stop with this novel though, thanks and have a great weekend!

welcome! gotta love an 85 ss.

you could try OPGI ( original parts group, inc.) google it. they have stuff for 4th gens, & free catalougs. i have had good experiance with them getting stuff for my 65 buick, reasonable prices for re-pop parts.

i would say a 350 would make your monte fly, the 383 would be sick. the little 305s respond well to tuneing themselves, stuff like playing with the timing, plugs, tuneing the carb, simple things. my mom had an old caprece with the 305 when i was little, my dad tuned it & it used to fly... i know it could roast the tires!

good luck getting your car on the road!

Welcome! We had an 85 SS burgundy interior and exterior - all stock. We sold a couple of years ago.
