Question Just bought a 2002 LS Monte Carlo

Hey guys I just bought a 2002 Monte Carlo yesterday and I had a few questions about it , if someone could point me to the right direction that would be awesome.

I just sold my 2000 Pontiac Grand Am to get this car, I had 2 Kicker 12's with a 1000 amp that I let go with that car. I was planning on putting some new subs in this car but I have heard you cannot replace the head unit without it messing the car up. Is there anyway to get by this besides mounting the stock radio in the trunk. I have a 96 Firebird for a drag car that keeps me busy so I don't really want to spend alot of time to make that happen.

And the other thing is today I was going to work and the window wouldn't roll up after having it down for about 3 or 4 minutes...about 10 miles late it actually let me put it up.what causes that and is there a simple fix.

Thanks ahead of time

Welcome to the MCF family. Agreed on the window motor problem. And what was implied about "messing up" the car by removing the head unit? Lot's of people replacing head units and not having issues. If you mean loosing the in the steering wheel controls, don't buy a WalMart unit that can't have the steering wheel control module added, oe the door chimes and Onstar module. And a remote mount canle for a trunk mount factory deck was only $35 last I knew. It all depends on if you want to do it right or do it cheap. You'll get what you pay for.

There's a lot of nice double-din units out there now. I'd recommend something like that, with a nav' system built in.

all the tricks that you need the stock unit for can be worked around by other little "tricks". things like, turning the car to "Acc" then pumping the break 3 times... ect. if you want to put a nice system in and want to change the head unit, do it. I have 2 12" jl dub 1's in my car with a diamond audio amp and a clarion touch screen dvd player. I dont have any problems!

Default New Problems

So with this window...it could be the motor, or it could be the switch right ? Also my cruise control isn't working like it did last week. I know this car's history as it was my parents before i bought it...the window did this a few weeks last year and stopped. But has worked fine for 9 months...is it possible I maybe messed the switch up while detailing the car ?

As far as people wondering about the race car you can go to www.pryerracing.com . My car is the black firebird and the grand am is my fathers.

thanks for all the replys. Hopefully I can get this worked out.

Welcome to the forum man.

I would say to give your switch a try first. My car does the same thing. It will lower, no problem. But going up is another story. It can work for months, then stop. Then work again a few mins later. If my memory serves me right, the switch acts as the relay for the motor. So start there first.
