Sounds like getting into the rear seat from the driver's side is an easy method

Yeah I prefer manuals too but sadly after blowing out my knee 6 years ago I have to keep an automatic around for those days that my knee really bothers me. I have my 73 Z28 for when I have that need to drive a stick though. There aren't a whole lot of options for 4 door cars with manuals though. Main ones I can think of off the top of my head are the G8s (which are pretty expensive and don't do so great on gas), Honda Accords, Nissan Altimas, Subaru WRX STis and Cobalts. I'm sure there are others that I'm forgetting but that's just off the top of my head. The Altima SE-R is actually a pretty stout car. Their V6 puts out a decent amount of power and you can get an 05ish SE-R for under 15 grand. I do live 15 minutes from the Nissan plant, 30 minutes from their North American headquarters, and they are directly or indirectly responsible for tens of thousands of jobs in the area (including my own job) so I am kind of biased towards them as far as the foreign car makers go. They're still a solid car though.

Wait a minute Emily. You just lost a Cobalt that you had. That didn't have 4 doors or a useable back seat ? So why all of a sudden you need 4 drs and a back seat. Whats going on in the back seat ? mmmmmm ha ha ha ha ha. Buy a small truck. 4 doors useable back seat plus a bed. All the room you need plus they have a manual trans

Bet she has kids and needs the back seat easily accessible. A G8 would be a sweet ride for sure.. Welcome Emily, awesome to have women aboard to keep us guys in check. Something about a woman who loves a car enough to join forums. Nice, the right car will reveal itself to you soon enough. Patience will save you buyers remorse later on.....
