Default I'm new & not sure how to do this.....YIKES!

(Dear God please let this work. )
Hi there everyone. I have a problem with my 05 and I'm hoping someone may be able to tell me what to do.

Mileage: over 110,000
Problems: temp gauge reads almost into the red lately even after car has been shut off for 8 hrs or so.

I have to say I'm pretty freaked out about this. Is it a coolant issue? I've read several complaints about this all over the internet.
Any ideas on what to do would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance.

Welcome to the Monte Carlo Family.
Sorry to read about your problem
First, have you checked your coolant level ? ?
Do you have a mechanic in your area that can check your Monte's problem(s) ?
Have you ever had your thermostat replaced or checked ?

I would make sure your coolant level is filled & then have someone check your thermostat..

Check back on your problem, & see what our Expert Tech Member's post for you to have checked `out...Good Luck

Welcome to the forum!

Are you also having problems with your speedometer and/or fuel gauge? There's lots of complaints online about the instrument cluster failing in the '05 model.

Sounds like a problem with the gauge. Because after 8 hours the car will have cooled off to the ambient temperature. Mid 2000s GM vehicles are known to have gauge issues. I had to have the ones in the 04 I used to have replaced. I just can't remember if it was a recall or just warranty work. Good luck though and welcome to the site.

Welcome to the site - stepper motor on gauges probably went out - hope it doesn't happen to my 05 (or my 03 for that matter)

Thank you for the warm welcome. My coolant was just checked last wknd & it was a little low. My friend filled it for me. I have the bottle of coolant in my car still but have NO IDEA where to pour it. LOL (Guess I should hve paid more attention to my dad when he would try to help me.)
This issue has been going on for a few years now. It's always something w/ this car lately. To be honest w/ you, I don't know anything about cars. I will tell my friend what you told me & hopefully the problem will be resolved.
Thank you.

Welcome to the forum!

Luckily I think it is simply a problem with the gauge also, not the car itself.
