Hi Randy from the Lone Star State of Texas
&
a Big Welcome to the Monte Carlo Family.
How many miles are on your 85 Monte ?
Are you putting the 4 barrel on a high rise intake ?
We hope that you take some pictures of your 85 & post them.
What type of rim's are your considering for your Monte ?
Explore the MCF, & ask questions for help.
Look forward to your future posts.
Good Luck with your 85 Monte.

I had a Holley on my Small Block Chevy in a 76 Camaro L/T and wasn't too happy about it. Even though I had an Edlebrock Aluminum Performer Manifold that was supposed to be even-flow ... the Holley kept blowing Power Valves and getting me in trouble with the Law. When you blow a Power Valve ... you run so Rich that it looks like you are fogging for Mosquitoes. After a few times getting cited for "Excess Exhaust" ... I swapped over to an Edlebrock Carb.
The Edlebrock was a nice Unit. All the adjustments and tuning changes are external and there's no need to keep buying Bowl Gaskets every time you make a Jetting change to the Mixture Settings. You can do that on a Edlebrock by adjusting some External Screws or replacing External Parts without pulling the whole Carb chamber off and making a little mess.
It's just my personal opinion ... I'm sure there are plenty of folks that like Holley as much as I do Edelbrock!

Welcome Randy from Dallas to the MCF family. Looking forward to seeing some pics of your car, even if it is in primer. What are the 20" wheels it has on it? I tend to agree about the Edelbrock carb' having several Holleys myself, and never seemed to be happy with them.
