how rare is this car
#11
Hey Clint,
As Budsjlm stated, there were 6000+ '87's built. I owned a silver one since '88 and have not seen many others, nor have I seen many with T-tops. Not sure just how rare yours would be, as I have mostly seen Black and White ones.
The only thing that I cold find around the color choices for the '87 was this:
The exterior colors for 1987 were silver; white, maroon, black, and they added light metallic brown. It is a very rare color to find on an SS. The interior colors were grey, maroon, and saddle, which was still rare.
But its all good, you have a nice one, and they are a blast to drive, so enjoy it.
Just be careful, they are high on the stolen market for parts. For me it did not matter where it was parked or that it had an alarm on it. If they want it, it is gone. What was humorous about it is that they did not know what they had. The back window alone is worth big $$$, but they left it in place.
My son is now restoring what was left after the shell was recovered.
I now have one of the '86's that I did a body off restoration and love it.

Nice car Clint. I love the aerocoupes myself. The silver on silver isn't that rare. I have seen quite a few of them. Unfortunately rare doesn't make it valuable. I have an 81 Monte Turbo with T-tops. I have not had any luck finding out how rare mine is other than it is one of 3027. I want to restore mine back to factory stock. It has been modified, had parts changed and had the option codes removed. I am having trouble finding out how to document how it was built.
Welcome to the MCF. This is a very nice site.
