Default Hey I'm new

Hey guys Im new to the forum, my name is malachi and I'm 18 years old. My first car is a yellow 2003 Monte Carlo SS. It has a 3.8L L36 3800 Series 2 under the hood. 202k miles so far.

Welcome Malachi. Your car looks to be in great condition for the mileage.

Maybe someone should update and post a 200,000 mile maintenance list since many of our Monte's are reaching that milestone.

Yep, she's made a good first car so far. I got her back in September of 2016 as a GED present. Heres a small list of repairs and things done to the car.

chevy steering wheel cover -$12

chevy floor mats -$30

chevy seat covers (two) -$40 ($20 each)

major fluid and filter change (first after buying car) -$250

ignition module (car went into anti theft safety mode) -$300

mass airflow sensor -$300

having exhaust re welded into place after taking a set of RR tracks a little too fast and dropping the exhaust -$250

5,000 mile later oil change -$35

New all season tires all the way around -$375

New rear brake pads and rotors -$175

GM 3800 head gasket recall -$0

GM unintended key rotation recall -$0

These things have a head gasket recall? I never got any info in the mail about those on my other 3800s. I know they have that valve cover recall.

Anyway, Welcome to the forum and I hope you enjoy the vehicle - take it easy on those rail road crossings now lol. Glad to see some brighter colors - so many cars are just black/gray/white on the road and it's so dull and boring I personally have blues/greens.

Welcome to MCF, Malachi! That is an awesome first car. Mine was a 1980 Ford Pinto.....Bright red w/white "Starsky & Hutch" vinyl striping.....lol
