help new member fight the insurance company
New member here. I need some help.
My baby...2003 yellow Monte Carlo SS was t-boned last week. As if that was not bad enough, now the insurance company is giving me a hard time about paying for it. What I am lookimg for is a way to come up with the production number for my car. Yellow SS Limited Edition with sports apperance package. I need to show them that only a certain number were made with my set up.
If anyone knows how to get this information, it would help me alot to get my car back on the road again.

Do a search on here with "build #" or "build number", on the last page of the thread there is a # that i posted that i called (directly to chevy) and i was able to give them my info and the vin# and they told me the production # and sent me a letter with it also. i almost had the same issue with my insurance company in my accident a couple months ago and i just told the adjuster that it was a rare car and i would really appreciate it if they would authorize the OEM parts instead of aftermarket ones.
it might depend on your insurance policy though. check with your agent (if you have one) as to what the policy specifies. some policies specify that the company can use aftermarket parts, some specify OEM parts. it's (apparently) a little known fact that even i didn't know after being an insurance agent for almost 7 years. i didn't find that out until after my accident. i don't know if all companies have this option (i have Nationwide) but it would be beneficial to check. the OEM parts policy was only a couple bucks a month more.
are you going through your own insurance company, or the guy that hit you? if you're going through his, you might want to talk to your own company to see how they would handle it and put in a claim through them instead. you'll have to pay your deductible, but they'll go after the other insurance company once the claim is closed and get the money back from them and will give you a check for your deductible.
good luck and keep us posted!!
edit: here's my post with the # to chevy:
rj, the # i called was 1-800-222-1020, posted by submariner on page 2... it's a voice activated system and i just kept saying 'other options' or something similar until it connected me to a person. i did have to enter my phone #.

Hi `Member: Bumpdraft from the SunShine State
Sorry U joined under these circumstances
Is it the driver that hit you Insurance Co that is giving you a
difficult time ?
Do you have before & after pic's of your Monte ?
Did the Driver that T-Boned U have Ins ?
Your Insurance Co should have many resources to determine
value of your Limited Edition Monte Carlo.
Wish you Good Luck on your Resolution to your Problem.

Thank you everyone. I will try the phone number and see if that will help me out. And researce the numbers. I will keep everyone posted to see what the out come will be. I just thought that if I could show that the car has more value because of the limited color and package. I have not been able to find anythink on line that was the same as my car. I know that I have to get my sentimental heart out of the car and get my boxing gloves on now!! The more back up information that I have the better case I can build for myself.
I will see about posting some poictures. Before and after :-(
Thanks again for you time and information.
