Hi Custom 95
I am also a para, L3, and just got my monte this week(02 SS). I am having some trouble getting my chair in but that is probably more just getting used to it. I have been able to get it into a lot of different cars, including a 93 cougar and an 89 lebaron. I'll check back and maybe compare notes later.

thanks fellas,
i'm definitely excited about this although it's a bit of a challenge.
hey cevert, how long ago was your injury? do you have a rigid frame chair or folding? fortunately, i was able to load my chair with out to much trouble. i have a ti lite x, it's kind of a mix between a rigid frame and folding chair and it's titanium so it's pretty light. i'll give you a little run down of how i get it in the car.
-transfer in with both legs out of the vehicle, seat position all the way back
-tilt the seat back about 125 to 135 degree angle so i can lean with my left elbow on the back rest while i pop my wheels off. i've found if i take off the right wheel first it's easier to spin the chair back around to get the other wheel off but your chair may be different. with the seat angle back there's a nice gap between driver and passenger seat to slip the wheels into the back seat. i also throw my back pack back there.
-fold up chair and position it so it's in arms reach while i'm fully in the car (seat still angled back for clearance between me and steering wheel).
-grab chair with left arm and get it up on my lap and then with both arms i put it over onto passenger side. it helps to tilt the passenger seat back a little too so there's more room for your chair.
my biggest challenge is my hand dexterity (i'm a quad c6,c7 not a para) so my hands are pretty weak and fatigue easily. sometimes i have a hard time getting my wheels off. anyhow, i hope this helps or maybe gives you some ideas to try.
by the way, anyone know where i can get ss badges like the one that space posted at the top of this page?

Hey Custom, I was born disabled, so I kind of picked up most of what you have been learning from just doing it over the last 40+ years. I have a rigid frame Quickie R2, although lately I have thought a folding might be easier. Still I don't think I want to mess with the extra weight. I transfer much as you do, although I sling everything in the back, just habit I guess. I took the monte out in the dark tonight for the first time, and first time on the highway. Much fun until I found out my hand controls stick at around 60 mph....needless to say the drive home was entertaining. I will be making a very energetic call to my mechanic on Monday.

wow, 40 years in a chair. takes a strong person to make it through that. yep rigid frame is a little wider when broken down than my folding, although my back rest kind of sucks. it gives me better clearance between me and the steering wheel. i didn't realize that you have been doing this much longer than i have. you could problably show me a thing or two.
take care and good luck.

thanks again for the kind words and space, thanks for the links. i got my baby home tonight but still haven'tdriven it yet. my hand controls should be in by the end of the week.
it's absolutely sweet. on the ride home i told my step dad to mash the gas and boy does it scoot! i ordered my black led tail lights through the group buy that Alex set up a while ago. it was nice of them to give them to me for $279.99 shipped. i will be getting the rear and back sidewindows tinted but decided to hold off on the wheels. i spent the money for my wheels on an extended warranty (3 year/ 45k mile) instead.
i'll get some pics up asap.

Nice choice with the black LED tail lights. Coold look. Although I'm starting to like the tinted tails too. But maybe not so much on a black car. Unless you want to go with the "murdered out" look.
I found out the hard way with my previous car, you should always get the extended warranty on a car. Although the Monte Carlo is a much more reliable car than my previous Grand Am.
If I may suggest, if/when you do get new rims. Some nice chrome rims and chrome exhaust tips would look terrific on your all-black Monte.
