Ok, I'm getting some conflicting into on the turn signals. So it's a relay that requires dash removal to fix, and not the hazard switch??? That doesn't sound like fun... If I hit the hazard button, the turn signals will work for a while? If it was a fuse, wouldn't it not work at all? I also have an issue with the passenger side window. Doesn't work with either switch. I'm guessing it needs a new regulator or whatever that is in the door? Thanks for all the nice comments!

Fpdsniper,

OK, what you have is a Hazard switch, Hazard relay and Blinker relay all in one unit. So when you change the hazard switch you are changing Both relays as well. The dash cover I not Hard to remove. It's been a while But as I remember it, you have to remove the kick plate under the steering wheel by the by the brake and gas peddle. Then you can see the bottom screws that hold the front cover. I think there are 2 screws up in the gauge area and one on the side in the fuse box area. The Headlights and Fog Lights switch is attached to this panel as well. You have to drop the steering wheel to it lowest position and put the gear shifter in 1st. There are clips that hold the panel around the radio. Once you get those loose, the panel will come forward as far as the wires for the headlights, fog lights and hazard switch will let it. Enough to get your hand in and disconnect the harnesses. If I missed anything, I apologize. It's been a while since did this. Hopefully one of the other members will catch what I missed. But it's not Hard Really.
Oh and you are right. If the fuse was blown, They would not work at all. Hope this helps.

Thanks JC, I appreciate the info. Forgive my ignorance on this stuff. I saw another thread elsewhere that showed just the panel around the hazard switch pulled off giving access to the switch so it could be changed out. Seemed a lot easier for a non-mechanic like me, so this is what is confusing me. Here's what I found:

How to Replace a Hazard Warning Switch in a 2000 Chevy Monte Carlo | eHow

So is this incorrect? Just trying to be careful not to screw this up. (If anyone can screw it up, that's me....)

Take a good Look at the panel. I know on some late model Impalas you only have to remove a panel around the switch. But I am sure on my 02 Monte SS I had to remove the whole panel to get to it. I believe all 6th Gen Montes are the same. If yours is just a panel around the switch, then I am Jealous! I have to replace mine and it's the whole panel.
Here is a link to a video on it posted by one of our members.
Good Luck!

To my knowledge you have to remove the whole dash cover, my blinkers did that once, hit the hazard switch and they've been fine since, sure I'll be stuck doing this eventually.
