Default Front Bumper

Hello everyone, I’m a new member to the forums, but I have a question. I recently got into a minor accident and my front bumper ended up getting cracked. Does anyone know what material GM used to make the front bumpers on 2003 Montes? My dad and I are going to buy a kit and will Bondo it but we need to know the material. Thanks to anyone that has any information or helps.

Instead of doing that you can get a new one for about 100.00 and then just bolt it on. Check the link below.

Thanks for your input but I would rather stick with the bumper I have. I’ve seen too many poorly made reproduction bumpers to justify buying one.

Okay a few years back a friend had some bumper damage and the body shop said it may not be a good idea to repair it cause it was cracked clear thru.
That is why I suggested this repair.
I think that they are a Polyurethane material.
You might want to google this type of repair and see if there is a youtube video that might help.

These bumpers are made from urethane.
Honestly, you are best off replacing it with a used one that is not cracked OR a new one.

I bought a new bumper cover for my Grand Am from a vendor on eBay, zero issues. Fitment is 100% spot on, no issues in the casting. I had a guy paint it and I put it on myself. You cannot tell any difference from the one I have to a factory one.

I helped another friend with the same task on his Grand Am. His bumper arrived with a small bit of damage, company sent him out a replacement with no issues.

You are more then welcome to stick to the one you have, but if this was my car, I'd try a new one first (if there are any issues, make the supplier resolve it or refund your money).

The cracks aren’t extremely bad which is why I don’t think a whole new bumper is necessary. I think I’ll try to just bondo it, maybe get a plastic welder first, but if it doesn’t work then I will go with a bumper I guess, thanks.

Supposedly a plastic welder can do wonders with cracks in plastic, including fixing urethane bumper covers (I've seen a couple youtube videos where someone fixed a bumper cover with a plastic welder).

I hope it works out. You should share some before/during/after pics. Might be helpful to others here to see a repair like this.
