It all depends on how much money you want to sink into your Monte. There are a LOT of things that can be done to this 3800. It's also a bit of a niche drivetrain (such as you see a lot more aftermarket performance vendors catering to the F-bodies and the Mustangs then you do a 3800 powered car). BUT there are some out there for our cars that offer great products to get more HP.
When you mention your Mustang, per GM, my '84 Camaro, with a v8 305 H.O. engine and a stick shift transmission was rated at 190HP!!! Granted, there is 20 years between my Camaro and my Monte, but regardless, that's still pretty significant.

These engines can take a lot and give a lot. I've actually done all my modifications because they will support my turbo build on this engine. Hopefully that build will come next year.

GM did good with the 3800 Series II (and the Series III) v6. It became very popular to mod.
As for a cheap super charger, my guess is you're best bet would be to go to a salvage yard where you pull the parts. I believe you would need the heads, intake, super charger and fuel rail. Not to mention a PCM tune so the car knows what you're doing.
If you seriously wanted to go down the road of pulling the pieces yourself, look at ZZP's top-swap kit and that would give you a shopping list.

BTW - To my knowledge on these cars you don't "chip the car and tune the car". The "chips" I've heard about are crap. It's just simply tuning (which is reprogramming the PCM). People here have done tuning a variety of ways. I sent my PCM to PCMforLess.com. It took 3 times of sending it to them (including the original tune), but they worked with me each step of the way. Having to send it in more then once is to be expected with a mailorder service like this. BUT, it all worked and I felt the service was terrific!
Well i dont know about sending it off like that i dont have much money to do stuff like that. i have a wife and 5 children so im going to have to take a different aproach. maybe we can figure out something else.
