Chrome Alternator
#6
I have purchased custom chromed alternators in the past from Motor City Reman. I went that way because I didn't want to install a 1 wire alternator in the cars I was working on at the time. You may want to contact them and see if they still offer custom chroming:

On a side note, the majority of those vehicles were trailer queens. I have yet to see a chromed alternator survive on the street for more then a few months. The chrome retains heat, the alternator gets too hot, then fails. Just a little food for thought.

You might have better luck looking for a chromed AD244 alternator (what was used on the chevy s10's) that now has an adapter to connect to our engines

Thank you, 03SSLE! Btw, this Monte is in no way a "trailer queen". I dont have the exact numbers (because we couldn't get to the track), but since we installed the new MODs this summer (Intercooler, bigger fuel rails, bigger fuel injectors, bigger thottle body, intake manifold, smaller pulley), she should run in the very low 8's in the 1/8th mile. So, in thinking along the lines of what you said about the chrome alternators, maybe i shouldnt bother. Maybe I'll see what I can do by polishing the crap out of it.

There is a guy that polishes them if I remember right his name is Jason Farnsworth. You can contact him through Facebook or one of the grand prix forums. And as mentioned earlier about seeing a polished one for sale, I believe it was him selling it but not positive

Hey man just got a look at your engine bay and I'm curious as to why you don't just take the guts out of the alt and paint the casing? I think it would look sweet in the engine bay.
