Awesome forum, Happy to be here!!
Hey Folks... Dave from Galveston, Texas here.
I had my last vehicle stolen while I was at work and did without anything for about a year. By choice really. My family didn't like that much
so they sold me a 2005 Monte LS for $250. Now the last thing I expected to do was fall in love with this car. It had been wrecked at one point or another by 3 different family members from my cousin (the original owner) to my Nephew who sold it to me. The tax office pulled a number out of KBB and basically saddled me with another $250 doubling my out of pocket.
The Monte has about 105,000 on the OD and despite her need for cosmetic surgery (drivers side, front end and hood) still loves to get up and go, hence my new found love for her. A week after I bought the Monte, my Mom handed me the keys to an '05 Honda CR-V (w/ 53,000 mi. Mom's rule), so with that as a reliable daily driver I have time to make the Monte a project car and reverse the years of abuse that have been inflicted upon her.
So that's why I'm here. To soak up your vast knowledge while I gather funds for mods, fixes and purdy 'lil trinkets. I've modded a forum before, so I don't join one lightly. You can expect me to be involved, respectful and follow the rules of MCF (no one post wonder here
).
Well, that's all I can remember that I wanted to say for now. Thanks for having me.

Welcome to the Forum! There is a knowledgeable cast of people on here to handle pretty much everything you can think of and post. Sounds like the Monte has been through a lot in its life so you're in the right place to get things together for her.

Welcome to MCF Dave.
Great to hear that you've fallen in love with a Monte! I joke at about 100,000 miles, a car is barely broken in!!
At that mileage, some things you should consider for proper maintenance:
- Change plugs and wires (if they have not been done already). AC Delco or NGK preferred, NO BOSCH PLUGS!
- Change the fuel and air filters
- Drop the trans pan, change the fluid and the filter (commonly neglected, I tend to do this around every 100,000 miles or sooner on my cars)
Post some pics and keep us updated!!

Thanks for the welcomes all and thanks for the advice Maniac. I drove it pretty much daily for the first month or so I had her. I got a good feel for her then the water pump started slinging dex everywhere, so along with the new pump and a cooling sys flush your advice sounds like a real good jumping off point.
