Default '99 monte carlo

my wifes mc transmission is having problems! it slips down into passing gear in first and second unless your just barely giving it gas.And since this started it has no passing gear once it is in high gear. And, most times it wont shift out of first at all until the fluid has warmed up.?? codes say 1 & 2 shift selinoids? You think thats all it is? where are they located exactly, can i get to them by dropping the pan or not? cant afford a shop! HELP !!

Welcome to the Monte Carlo Forum. There are a lot of knowledgeable people here. You may need to post your question in the generation specific thread to get the answer you seek. Unfortunately I am not that knowledgeable about the front wheel drive cars. I try to avoid them when I can. Gregg.

The solenoids are behind the side cover. Look at your intake. Look under it. Where the big connector is that goes into the tranny, that's the side cover. You have to either drop the cradle or pull the engine to gain access to it. Good luck.
