Sorry to hear the bad news fellow 3rd gen owner! However, this is a perfect time to swap a 350 in there and be happier

Car looks good nice pick.

That sounds horrible. At least you already had plans for a new engine. I have a 79 Monte Carlo that I have recently obtained, but she is nothing compared to how nice yours looks! Good luck with getting that new engine put in next month.

i checked yours out in your garage.. it doesn't matter the condition.. whenever i see one (mostly in pics, there aren't any in my area) if get all fuzzy, i think they're all gems..

i can't wait to see what you do to yours.. the '79 is the year to have, or so i'm told.

DAMN!! now i'm all excited seeing another one and i can't run mine

Default 78 Monte Vacuum

I also just got a 78 monte with a 305. It had a blow head gasket so I had to tear into it a little. I hooked up all the vacuum lines just as the diagram says to but i still have a problem. I have no idea where the line that comes out of the intake(between the carb and dist) goes to. I also have a line that comes out of my tranny that comes up and has a tee on it and i have no idea where that goes. could anyone with a 78 take a picture of those lines so i can hook them up. Thanks.

I would take some pics for you but mine is at a family member's house about 5 hours away in San Antonio.
